I have been going to Ricardo's Mexican Restaurant with my family almost every single Saturday afternoon since my kids were babies, ...now they're 17, 14 and 13. Over the years my 3 boys have changed incredibly, the food at Ricardo's however has not changed a bit. Mouth watering authentic dishes, cooked at home fresh taste, and make you feel like part of the family customer service. Favorite dishes during the week are #11 (chlile verde pork burrito and beef taco) or #2 Chile Relleno (it's jumbo sized with cheese which has homemade green chile sauce kneaded into it, in fact...this will be the very best chile relleno you ever have and that's a promise) On the weekends it's definitely their "Special", two generous portioned flank steak strips, marinated and char-broilled to perfection...tender on the bite, intensely satisfying on the taste. Served with pico de gallo, guacamole, rice, beans and your choice of corn or flour torillas. btw, the Salsa is king here. Tell them "Willie" sent ya ;)

    * Recardo's used to be one of my favorite eateries till recent. Don't get me wrong the Mexican food is great (im from Tucson Az. and am Hispanic so I must know Mexican food right? Yes I do. Anyways, I traveled to Braham City about an hour and 20 minutes to get to this restaurant drooling about their great Chili relleno and Shredded beef burritos. When me and my wife got there was a man at the door with it open. He kind of looked at me, like who are you? Me and my wife went in and noticed that tables were set up for like a party. Ok so we proceeded towards the back where the usual waitress that serves us was, and said two please. She looked at me and said the restaurant is reserved for a party. I said the whole place? she said yep and looked at me like "Good buy". Sad part is that they have seen me there several time before. I told her we drove over an hour to get there. She said "sorry". We will probably not ever go back there again. There are some people that travel farther just to go to that place, so again "the whole place?. So on that day we went to another Mexican Restaurant that was pretty good and the manager was the person that made this wonderful handmade Guacamole at your table (Bella's Mexican restaurant). This is our now new Mexican restaurant. Ok not the best but for Utah its good.

I'm not sure this place has the best Mexican food in Brigham city but it's not bad Mexican. The layout of the place is pretty good but they probably need to greet people better. When you walk in you aren't sure what to do. They don't seat you and after wandering around they yell from that back that you can sit down. It's not just me who felt weird...everyone who came in had the same experience and it was funny. By the end we all were watching people come in and then walk around like a zombie wondering where to sit. They smother your food with sauce so if you like that then come here.

It has been a few months since i was here and i have missed it so! They have remodeled the place! I like the new theme, it is as if you are eating on small street in mexico with the little shops surrounding you. I had the large beef burrito with chicken taco, and i was not dissapointed. As usual this place is still serving great food.

Best Mexican restaraunt I know of in Utah. They started out in a gas station in Perry and were so popular they moved to a full sized restaraunt in downtown Brigham. They still get very crowded on weekends. Best taco's I've had. Also they have amazing carne'd sada (however you spell it, mexican steak) on Fridays and Saturdays. They make fried ice-cream and great carrot cake but I never have room for desert. Staff is great. They'll learn your names if you go once or twice. The guy who runs the place I don't think is actually mexican but authenticity is hard to find in Utah, and the food is better and not a big jump from many of the Mexican restaunts in the area.

Excellent salsa- even tho' it's made from canned diced tomatoes. The ambiance is fairly imaginative and the menu has the standard fare, but great attention is given (apparently) to the authentic flavors. I would go again, presuming a 900 mile drive was not necessary. I believe they are celebrating their 18th (?) anniversary in Brigham City. Funny waitress (not ours) knew everyone and everything about anything going on in and around Brigham since '62. Pretty funny side note. Chicken taco was meh...everything else was very, very good!

We just happened to be in Brigham City at dinner time and based on the glowing reviews, we decided to give Ricardo's a try. My wife and I along with three of our teenage sons arrived just before 6pm on a Friday night. There was plenty of seating but most of it was reserved. They asked us if we had a reservation. This isn't the kind of place I would have expected to need a reservation and I don't think you do. Two of the wait staff were very friendly and tried to find a place for us to sit. However, there was one lady that seemed almost offended that we had the gall to show up and want to eat. I was so taken back by her surly demeanor that I almost turned around and left. However, with so many 5 star reviews, how could we leave? I thought to myself, the food must be fantastic! They found us a place to sit that was at this bench that looked like the bench, small tables and swinging chairs came out of a fast food joint. It was not comfortable or conducive to good conversation. Side note. None of the "reserved" tables (over half the tables) were ever occupied while we were there. I'm not sure who they were waiting for. The president? During our entire meal the surly waitress, who shall remain nameless, stormed around, was too loud and was very distracting. She was the topic of conversation for the entire meal. We decided that she must be having a bad day. Fortunately, she was not our server. Our server was excellent, very attentive, and unobtrusive. The decor was nicely done. For a small place, they did very well. Other than our seating area, the rest of the booths and tables were nothing fancy, but looked comfortable. The restrooms are in the back. They were clean and well stocked. Food: The service was very quick. The chips and salsa (one basket only, then you pay extra for more) were average. For five stars I would expect unlimited warm chips with plenty of salsa. The salsa ran out way before the chips did. The food was hot, the plates were warmed, and everyone got what they ordered. Our main course was standard Mexican fare. It was tasty and well presented. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and thought the food was just fine. If I hadn't seen so many five star reviews for this place, I think Ricardo's would have exceeded my expectations for the food, but I have to admit I was looking for WOW! and I got something that was just like most every other non-chain family owned Mexican restaurant. Don't get me wrong, it was very good, just not outstanding. Price: We all just had water and one entree each, with no desert. The total bill before tip was $47. I have to admit, I really had high hopes for this place. In my mind they didn't live up to the promise of the other 5 star reviewers. We decided that most of the other reviewers must be either family members or close friends of the owner. It is certainly not the best Mexican food in Utah. It was very good overall and I would recommend that you give it a try.

I really like this place. Their salsa is awesome, but enchiladas with their green sauce are fantastic. You have to specifically ask for the green sauce. They normally come with red but a server recommended the green. Great recommendation!

Good food for a good price. I had the small burrito with green sauce and enjoyed it. There is just one waitress and it is a busy place.

Best Mexican Food in Town, I've tried many Mexican food restaurants and none compare to Ricardo's. The Carne Asada the BEST!

What's up with soupy green chile sauce without any flavor? It was all very bland. Anything not covered in the soupy green chile sauce was also very dry.

I was skeptical, what you say Mexican in small town Utah?...what, you say its good??? I only had their tacos, they are good. Really good, second best taco's I have had (the best were in Brawley, CA @ Nana Dora's). I was impressed that a small town would have such good food. The decor is average, service is average. And like all small towns, the girl I was with knew every table in there...yeah...they though I was her husband...don't expect less in Utah...

How does this have such high ratings? I think I'm more upset that people rated this 4 stars than I am at the restaurant for serving over priced food considering the quality is so low. I ordered what the hostess told me was one of their most popular dishes, cheese enchiladas with salsa verde. I'd understand lower quality food if the prices were lower, but I expected a lot better out of a $10 plate. The service was wonderful and the place seems nice. Just wasn't crazy about the food

Okay. Food a little bland. Not enough wait staff but the ones there were friendly. Couldn't get more salsa or water or a bill. Prices okay as are food portions. Wouldn't go again.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
